Clostridium Botulinum (botox) more famous as Botox but is available under different brand names, is used to stop muscle activity in a specific area. It has been used in medicine for many years to stop excess muscle activity and more recently the cosmetic benefits were discovered. If specific muscles in the face are targeted then lines and wrinkles can disappear. The commonest areas injected are the forehead to get rid of the lines produced when you raise your eyebrows, the glabella, which is the area just above the top of your nose which produces lines when you scowl and crows feet around the eyes. It is a very safe and simple procedure if done correctly. |

Fillers can be used to fill out deeper creases in the skin, typically the creases connecting the corners of the mouth with the edges of the nose. Or to plump out the lips, especially people with very flat lips. This usually has to be done with a dental injection so that it is not uncomfortable. |
